Chronic!
Chronic Tacos is a cool new theme for a Mexican taco stand style restaurant. Chronic Tacos has menu that features Baja gringo tourist style Mexican food. Over the years, Baja California food has become a distinct trendy style of Mexican food. Most of the tourists that go to Baja California come from California and the southwest. Gringo tourists like to munch on food that they are familiar with and Baja Mexican restaurants cater to the gringo tourist tastes. Wheat flour tortillas are popular with gringo tourists. Cheddar cheese is often called queso gringo in Mexico and it is the preferred cheese in Baja cuisine. Most of the Baja tourist food is mildly spicy, but fiery hot spicy food is offered for those who like the hot chile pepper challenge. Los Angeles and San Diego both have plenty of munch crazy Baja style Mexican restaurants. Munch crazy is a good description! Face it! Marijuana laws are antique and the state of California realizes this. Marijuana possession penalties in most western states are a mere slap on the hand. People smoke and enjoy marijuana and those same people enjoy getting the munchies! The munchies are good for the restaurant business! I have had my pot smoking days, thats for sure. In restaurants, I have seen stoned cooks with the munchies make a personal meal with some of the most unbelievable wild combinations of food that can be imagined. Stoned customers order some crazy combinations of food too. French fries in a burrito? Why not! Go with it, man! That is what Baja style food is all about. If it sounds good, make it and munch! The food that appeals to stoned gringo tourists has to feature ingredients that make a tourist drool in anticipation. French fries on a burrito? Good idea! Chronic is not just a word from the dictionary. Chronic refers to an intense state of mind. Chronic also refers to a marijuana hybrid that was very popular. The subject of marijuana keeps creeping back up in this article for only one reason. Munch food! When I saw the sign for Chronic Tacos, all these things ran through my mind. I simply had to check out this new breed of taco stand and I am glad that I did. The food at Chronic Tacos is well prepared. The Mexican components of the food on the menu are authentic and they are cooked with traditional methods. The gringo food that is combined with the Mexican food is authentic American snack food. Customers are given a choice of meats, when they order entrees like tacos and burritos. I chose beef steak asada for my Chronic California Burrito. The steak was marinated, grilled and then chopped by hand. The seasonings were right on the money! The steak asada had a great flavor. French fries on a burrito? For the last time, yes! French fries are one of the ingredients in a Chronic California Burrito. The customer has a choice of toppings, like cheese, salsas, lettuce, cabbage, chile peppers, etcetera. I chose a few toppings that I liked, instead of ordering everything but the kitchen sink. For those who are into the Baja California food experience, Baja Style is offered. The first photograph at the top of this page describes Baja Style. Baja Style is a nice combination of flavors. The Chronic California Burrito was awesome! This burrito is capable of satisfying the munchies! I had a refreshing Mexican Jarritos Strawberry Soda with my burrito. Jarritos is one of the few sodas that still comes in a glass bottle. One thing that is not frowned upon at Chronic Tacos, is graffiti! Customers are encouraged to tag and write graffiti to their hearts content. I remember reading about the possible backlash of a restaurant encouraging graffiti in Las Vegas, when Chronic Tacos first opened, but there has been no criticism since. There is graffiti everywhere inside Chronic Tacos and there is no graffiti in the neighborhood. There is no correlation between the initial prejudgements about a restaurant that encourages graffiti threatening to cause problems in the neighborhood. Graffiti is part of the fun at Chronic Tacos! Chronic Tacos is located at 1910 Village Center Circle in the Summerlin neighborhood of Las Vegas. The easy way to find Chronic Tacos is to get off of the Summerlin Parkway on Town Center and head north a few blocks to Village Center Plaza. I definitely recommend Chronic Tacos for visitors of Las Vegas and locals who wish to experience a different kind of taco stand! Chronic Tacos is a fun, munch crazed, Baja style taco joint! Be sure to leave some graffiti while you are there. Chronic yum! ... Shawna
